DHEBARIA RABARI EMBROIDERED QUILT by KALA RAKSHA ARTISANS

Hand embroidered panels of traditional rabari motifs and stitches come together in a quilt of sparkling harmony. Like scattered jewels of subtle colour, tiny stitches are finely worked on a surface of black cotton with an 8cm plain black border finished with 2cm triangular folds of the same cotton in earthy tones of green, ochre, ecru and madder repeated around the edge. The underside is lined with a complementary ajrakh block printed cotton making for a contrasting foldback or as a double sided quilt.
This is an exceptional quilt embroidered by the artisan designers of Kala Raksha based in Sumrasar Sheikh,, near Bhuj supporting the artisans work who work from their homes and villages scattered throughout Kachcch.
