Handstitched and appliqued pillow-covers using traditional motifs and embroidery by artisans of QASAB. .Formed in 1997, QASAB is a cooperative of over 1200 rural women artisans from 11 ethnic communities of Kutch dedicated to the preservation of traditional textile craft techniques of this region of Gujarat and at the same time generating an income stream for their families. They are adept embroiderers and in doing so continue as valuable story tellers and record keepers of their cultures. Where once they worked to create clothing, quilts and covers for their homes and extended families, they have adapted their skills and product design to make a wide range of items destined for an Indian and international market far beyond the local market.
