Handwoven on a back-strap loom by women of the Tripura community located in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Eastern Bangladesh. The Tripura tribe is one of the largest ethnic communities of Bangladesh numbering over 200,000 - a relatively small minority group crowded with other indigenous communities into the three districts making up the Chittagong Hills.

Tipra women traditionally wear the Reesa as a chest cloth. It translates beautifully into a highly individualised wrap, runner or wall hanging, a rare item not seen beyond the boundaries of their own community. This traditional tribal cloth is not a mundane commodity to be worn and discarded at the whim of time and fashion. This is a heritage item, cherished by the tribes, strong in designs, embedded with patterns of myth and legend.
