VINTAGE LOHORI KANTHA QUILT

Fully hand stitched Lohori Kantha Quilt in a traditional design creating a wave like pattern achieved with dense running stitches. Morjina Begum with the help of two other artisans has created this work using 4 layers of cotton khadi cloth. Red, blue and black are the traditional colours stitched on a white backing although this one also has a small section of green.

Such embroidery takes many weeks to complete and only after work in the fields and home are finished. It was sourced in the Rajshahi region of Bangladesh renown for kantha embroidery

Care Instructions: It is recommended that you hand-wash your kantha quilt in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid using harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as they can damage the delicate fabric and embroidery. Gently squeeze out excess water and avoid wringing or twisting the quilt. Dry in the shade.
